CMTA NEWS

The CMTA Pavillion project has started 04/19/08 and the trusses have been pre-assembled at the Borough maintenance shop. The ground work and footings for the pavilion are completed. We would like to thank Warren Templin for his time and the Borough for the use of the shop facilities to get this part of the project completed as well as all the volunteers that gave their time to give us a hand. We also had Job Corp lend us a few good craftsman which really made thing go smooth and hope to halve their help throughout the construction of the pavilion at the Crevasse. We still plan on being done in June and will have progress pictures of the project on our web site. This building was possible through the Mat-Su Borough Bed Tax Grants. We are still looking for a few volunteers to give us a hand for this project. We will have work days on every Saturday of June.
The Mat-Su Borough has started a public process including CMTA, other trail groups, as well as interested public to start planning a new trail head near Pathways School on France Rd. This will include the adjoining Borough acreage south of the Crevasse Trail system. Design considerations are all included in the "France Rd. Asset Management Plan", which can be found in the Land and Resource Management Division in the Borough web site. The asset management plans for the Borough are on the menu titled "Land & Resource information & Sales". It is important that all concerned parties be familiar with this draft as there are two other alternatives for this parcel. The planning sessions for the Crevasse Moraine Trail System are an important process, to preserve the trail system for future generations.
The France Rd. Asset Management Plan will be finalized in spring 2008.
The Mat-Su Borough Landfill Dept. will be at the Parks and Rec. Meeting at the Borough Office Building 6:00 pm, March 25th for a possible date when they may take the first section of the trail system. There may be an accelerated timeline other than the one proposed in the France Road Assessment Plan. It is important that no part of the trail system can be taken away without starting the alternate trails at France Road.
